Added a new drive to the system and it is not assigned a drive letter. The drive shows up in disk management but is not assigned a drive letter and nothing is highlighted but delete partition and maybe one other item, am I doing something wrong?

Right-click the white bar that represents the partition, and you should see where to go from there.

mechBgon, Right-click in the white does nothing except give you the option of Help or Delete Partition nothing else is highlighted. Any other ideas?

If you don't have any data on this drive or if it is a band new drive, go ahead and delete the partition. Once it is finished, you can create partition and assign a drive letter.

Well before I plugged it into the system, it did have data on it. I can't imagine it not being there from just hooking up a cable and turning on the computer, but stranger things have happened. I still have my old HD running XP Pro, or maybe I will hook this drive up in a USB enclosure and see if the data did get erased or something. Computers sure are fun, when they are running to your expectations.

Thanks for the replys.
