everytime a client PC attached to this SBS server is shut down or restarted it doesnt work the first attempt fails, then on the second attempt it works. it happens on ALL client PCs on the network so the issue is server based. The office manager has been known to go into the server and try to do stuff herself i think she broke something but she wont fess up to it. any ideas what we can do to fix this issue?

What does "it doesn't work" mean? What are you seeing?

Going to need more information.

First thing you should do is yank the office managers admin rights.

This is a good start.

Make sure the clients are pointing to the SBS Box DNS server. Are you using the add computer wizard and then pointing the client pc to the

//servername/connectcomputer ?

or are you joining them via my computer route? If you are using the the wizard, it is supposed to login using an sbs alias profile, reboot and then you login with the user credentials.

More info is needed.

I am SBS Specialist and have a small side business. If you need some help...I can either remote in for a fee..or try to help you via a few emails.

Best resource is.

rebate - i will update in the next day or so with the exact error message

genx - i would love to but she owns the company so it isnt an option

chunkee - i think you misunderstood the PCs are joined to the domain and have been fine for months then just reciently they have to shutdown twice to get the client to shutdown properly

Having to perform a "double-shutdown" means that there's software (program or Service) running on the PCs that isn't shutting down properly the first time. Windows shuts down what it can the first time, and then shuts down the rest of the programs/Services the second time.

Early Quickbooks 7 was one program that was known for causing this.
