This is the second time this year someone tapped me on the back of my car at a stoplight, im presuming because of texting. No damage done, but enough force to rock me forward.

I pulled over and motioned for the other driver to recognize and mf just keeps on going

At least freaking apogize! Got a pic of the driver this time.... not sure what good that does.

I have some faint scratches on my bumper, hard to tell what from. My car isnt even worth $500 anyway its in horrible shape so i wouldnt get it fixed anyway, unless it was visible damage and would prevent inspection passing.

Most upset at the tool drivers trying to ignore their acts.

Has anyone else had this issue?

could report a hit and run. though if you're certain there was no damage, might not be worth the trouble

You could have called the cops and got him for driving away from the scene of an accident.

didn't get a plate number?

I have an insanely detaild rear vehicle pic of the car

I did it in case i had some noticeable damage, but.im assuming with none visible i can point to its worthless filing something with little evidence and no witnesses

Had i been in my wifes honda i would have pulled over immediately, but in my saturn im not as concerned

Going to ask the cops i work with to get their opinion. I dont have the energy to pursue something for no benefit other then inconvenience the turd

Get license plate number, dial 911, "someone hit the back of my car, and has left the scene."

Follow them at a safe distance and stay on cell phone until police arrive.

If they tapped your car and left the scene, they have probably done it more then once.

Should report. If I rear end someone, even the slightest tap, I still pay them the respect of pulling over and checking for damage.

This guy didn't even check, stop, or say anything. That's shady.

I was just interested in an apology and acknowledgment, dont want a police report for a no damage accident.

Had i not been in my beater i would have been all over 911 for an incident report

I fully understand, and getting the police involved will probably just make them mad, because you took some of their precious time away.

Some people do not care about anyone but themselves. I think the mild bump in the rear of your car is an example of that. Any decent person would have stopped and took responsibility for the damages.

I would report it just because the other driver was dbag and fled the scene. Wonder what he would have done if he hit a pedestrian.

If someone hit me hard enough to rock me forward at all (damage or not) I would get out of the car and inspect before moving to the side of the road and talk to the other driver. AFTER I had inspected the car and made sure they knew they hit me I would ask them to pull to the side of the road with me (after taking a picture of their license plate).

EDIT:
before anyone claims "minor accident move to the side of the road first"....

It wouldn't take more than a minute to quickly inspect and snap a picture and tell them to pull over with you.

I like how you assume they were texting, because everyone knows no one was ever rear-ended before cellphones.

Call the cops. I would. If someone bumped into my car I would at least expect the decency of them pulling over and apologizing even if no damage was done. It's just a matter of time before that guy causes a bigger accident. He obviously doesn't give a crap about anyone, but himself on the roadway.

That's totally unacceptable. At the very least I'd be super apologetic.

What are you gonna do if there's no damage though...

I got rear ended pretty good a couple months ago. They deemed the marks on my bumper from the persons license plate screws to be worth $325... I just deposited the check and didn't fix it since it was so minor.

The small pickup truck that rear ended me had something like 2500-3000 dmg though!

I guess it depends on where you are at too, i was in left lane on a four lane busy road, not safe to exit there. When he was douchey enough to not pull over with me i had to make a decision to file a pice report or just let him off.

Considering the tapping, condition of my own vehicle, i didnt want to waste my time. I wont lie though, 49% of me wanted to be as big of a dick as possible to prove a point you need to be courteius on the road.

Back in high school friends used to tap each other for the lulz, i hated it but it gave me a good idea of what a damage causing thrust feels like. With plastic saturn bumpers it takes alot to cause any visible dmage.

Cant say how i reacted was right or wrong, it just felt most logical

I think whats going on is people surfing or texting at a stop and they fail to put a good stomp on the brake and slowly creep into the back of the other car

The opposite happened to me this winter. Icy conditions on the way to work. The guy behind me hit me hard (enough to shatter the bumper, but it was 30 below (C) so it didn't take much). I hit the car in front of me (light tap - but at those temps I had a small crack on my front bumper also). The car in front drove away without stopping to check. Lucky for me the other guy's insurance covered my front and rear damage.

If you had been injured, leaving the scene would have been a felony, that's the law here at least.

Heres a kicker, maybe my transmission is clunking at stop? Will look into that this weekend
