Seriously, what do I do about the floaties in my water?

I looked in my reservoir and the water isn't totally filthy or anything, but its slightly cloudy and has little floaties in it. They looks like tiny pieces of plastic or some clear debris floating around in there, like you'd get from a dirty glass of tap water. That what it looks like actually, a dirty glass of tap water.
Am I WRECKING my precious rads and blocks by letting that filth sit there? How often should I replace the water in the loop, and how often should I replace the tubing? Its only been a few months or so.

OK last night I cleaned my rig (it was dusty) and replaced the water with fresh distilled and PT nuke. I took a quick look at the water blocks and noticed a light greenish color lining the edges of the blocks and some deposit stuck to part of the nickel surface areas. It appears there is some corrosion happening or some little green monsters grew and clung to the blocks edges. Interesting. It hasn't affected performance, but I wonder what it is...

Only once did my water and tubing turn slightly green and that was from sunlight and Algae build up.
I change the distilled water every six months or so.

I'm getting good at changing it quickly now, so I'll just do it more often in an effort to prevent issues.

I got an algae build up in rig 2 below and it was quite a time cleaning the gpu blocks but all is well. Buy new tubing when that happens and take your time cleaning.

Good lord. I may as well throw some gold fish in there too. They may not get along well with the pump though.
Did you get a lot of algae? Or was it just a little bit in the blocks? Mine is just a little green lining along the edge of....oh screw it I need to clean it don't I.

Mmmm, I stopped using plain distilled and nuke years ago. Check your tubing brand, maybe replace and use a coolant is what I do.

I actually stopped using purpose specific coolants and went to distilled and silver. Though I really did so as I didn't like the staining of components more that any other reason. Moonbog, if you're getting possible algae like build ups or staining even with what you are currently doing and like me, don't want dyes running through your loop possibly staining components, maybe try one of the clear fluids.

Something similar to this maybe.

Who said to use colored coolants or dyes for that matter? People just assume coolant = colored but there most definitely are clear coolants.

I got some green gunk from plasticizer leaching and was all over my blocks, rads, and tubing. It turned out to be due to cheap HomeDepot tubing. I bought some high quality (I think) Primochill Advanced LRT tubing and I don't get that anymore. I use distilled and a silver kill coil.

Some manufacturers say "Do not use silver with nickel in the same system". Koolance for example. Some manufacturers nickel plating is still bad. Using some of these clear pre-mix liquids we might as well be urinating in our loops. I recommend the Primochill LRT advanced tubing too. For biocide I recommend PT Nuke but not Mayhems, it should be clear not blue.

I tried every combination in different loops and many unscientific scientific tests and have always had negative results or have been caught out by manufacturers poor products. Leeching tubing wasn't the manufacturers fault but the pre-mix liquid provider, this caused me repeated troubles for so long. Distilled + the right biocide has been perfect for a year now.

Come to think of it, my gunk troubles started around the time I started using a premix...didn't put two and two together lol. I decided to just stick with distilled water this time around.
