Seriously my $%^&*( drivers are not a marketing opportunity!!!

They were also installing "Steam" on peoples computers in one driver release. That's pretty much adware/trojan kind of stuff.

Both AMD & nV are bundling crap with their installers these days.

Actually, pretty every damn company is...we live in a bloated software world where every damn application you want to install wants to bundle crap along with...

True, I'm nearly sick of completely unrelated applications wanting to install a toolbar of some kind. If I want a toolbar, I will seek it out and download the sucker.

Heh, OpenOffice i'd rather have than update 5/6's is Yahoo toolbar.

yeah i love how i always get that friggin Portal demo installed on my PC whenever i reinstall my nvidia drivers.

thanks, but no thanks.

Yep, I've learned my lesson the hard way "Huh? Why do I have this search box in my task bar...and where the heck did Portal demo come from?!" 🙁

I used to just click "OK, Whatever,, Accept, OK, Install" when installing things. Not anymore; I read every screen...can't be too careful these days, unfortunately.

nvidia does not, and never have, bundled anything with their drivers.
You run the driver, click "accept license", and it install, overwriting previous driver.
nvidia copied AMD's steam offer, but did not bundle it into drivers, it is a seperate download.

lol , this actually good thing :!

Its a game icon only :! its not like yahoo annoying bar :! A 4KB game icon which links to : www.amd.com/blizzard

If you forget to untick it by mistake... just delete the game icon on your desktop :! it nothing more than a link to some a webpage 🙁 err.... loads of drama queens in this forum.

Give them an inch and they'll take a mile. I downloaded drivers, not a game demo.

QFT, i was wondering where that came from, as I've installed many NV drivers over the years and not had any bundled crap ware. Maybe from OEM specific drivers? I've always used the basic NV sets so that may be it?
That being said when I installed my 4870, I just "un-ticked" the crap. All in all I didn't consider that a big negative with the Cats. Of course the way the actual drivers work had some annoyances, but that's for another thread 😉

well, when they did bundle steam and it automatically installed that was pretty annoying... but now all it does is put a link on the desktop. That is not too bad, it is actually easier to delete the link then to untick (since you don't have to go into custom install settings).

Honestly, it pissed me off at first but I got over it. Then I thought, SCORE, free wow time... then I downloaded wow, and by the time it was done I remembered why I stopped playing in the first place (it is a soulless MMO, it is a JOB, not a game) and didn't even install it.

I was thinking about this yesterday. I wanted to play GRAW2 so I bought it on steam. The download window for it had an Nvidia advert on it. WTF? I just bought the game! It's not a demo.

Shoot me down if Im wrong but didnt Nvidia bundle a shortcut to download Portal Demo with its drivers?

Im sure I used to have that shortcut pop up every time I tried to sort out my Nvidia drivers.

What's the big deal?

If it helps keep the driver development free for me then I can un-check a box..

I can't complain either though I do believe the cost of nvidia cards includes a small amount for driver development.

🙁 yea I just did that not too long ago. I was in a hurry and just was spam clicking yes and installed yahoo toolbar which caused all sorts of problems for this person who already had google toolbar. If you want to put optional stuff on, FINE, STOP MAKING IT YES BY DEFAULT! Why is opt in the default?

Gamespy with all these game installs really ticks me off too.
