I saw this movie again last night on TV and one part stuck out to me.

When Joe goes to make a phone call, he picks up the phone and it says 'thanks for using blah, blah long distance company...' One of those companies mentioned is the U.S. Government.

A couple of years ago it was funny and ridiculous... Now it's just kind of depressing.

That movie is great. Lots of funny little things in the film that aren't part of main jokes.

..this post brought to you by Carl's Jr.

so is Luke and Owen Wilson's older brother. All three are in the awesome 'Bottle Rocket' as is the actor that plays Luke's NCO in Idiocracy. He plays 'Bob' in 'Bottle Rocket'.

I noticed that one of the shots of the future Fuddruckers logo didn't get fuzzed out on Comedy Central... you only see it briefly, though.

State owned telco is far from abnormal, almost standard on the world level.

Just 25 years ago, before ma bell was broken up, with all the regulations on it, it wasn't much different than being state owned... apart from where the profits go.

I understand the point of the movie. I just do not think it pulled it off.

If you can tolerate it, it actually gets funnier, IMO.

I knew nothing about Idiocracy other than the title before I read this thread; based on the title, I always assumed it was a documentary. :Q

Watched it last night on Comedy Central. Hilarious.

"But Brawndo's got electrolytes!"
"Do you even know what electrolytes are?"
"THEY'RE WHAT PLANTS CRAVE!"

Edit: The premise of the movie kind of made me depressed, though. "All the ignorant, stupid people overpopulated the world while the smart ones died out."

"He would soon discover that in the future, justice was not only blind...but had become rather retarded as well."

Mike Judge is indeed from the future.
