i made a posting about Ti200 vs 8500 Radeon OEM a few days ago, 8500 radeon i was told but now i am sincerely bloody confused!!! the article about the Unreal Tournie 2003 showing the ti200 perforiming better at high graphical detail but then at medium the Radeon 8500 is better-also i just read an article about the different versions of the 8500 Radeon - 3rd party versions, different clock speeds the lowest of which are the same as my TNT2 card!!
ok here is the deal
an Abit Geforce 3 128Mb Ti 200 at £119 or a ATI 8500 Radeon 64Mb **OEM** AGP for £119
i dont know anything about the Radeon e.g. if its 3rd party, maybe an indication is that the shop also sells an ATI 8500 Radeon 64Mb AGP at £199

i think the Abit Ti200 would be the best in my view e.g more memory for games like Jedi Knight and also less confusion about variation of Clock speeds, can i get some advice please? (im in the UK btw)

When compared to the Ti300, I'd go with the Radeon8500... no question about it.
One could make a valid argument for the Ti500/Ti4200, but the R8500 is superior in virtually every respect compared to the Ti200.

Better 3D performance in almost all applications, better TV-Out, better DVD playback, better 2D visual quality, marginally better 3D feature set.

Even in UT2003, which is almost a worst case scenario for the R8500 as it's specifically optimized for nVidia graphics boards the R8500 beats out the Ti200 in almost all tests and in typically right on the tails of the Ti500.
The Ti200 can typically overclock to near or at Ti500 speeds, but similarly the R8500 can often overclock quite well also.

128MB DRAM is not typically very useful in todays games except for a small handful of apps that see a gain at 1600x1200. It will however become increasingly beneficial in future games, but those games in which the Ti200 but benefit from the extra RAM it doesnt really have the sheer power to keep up anyways.

The Ti200 is a solid board, but compared against the R8500 I wouldnt even consider it.

i think it depends on who made that 8500. if it's a cheez-ball manufacturer... i wouldn't go for it.
