Serious Vulnerability in Firefox

We need a "urgent system updates" sticky really.

the sticky is in the software forums but i seriously doubt they get as much traffic as off topic does.

I posted this yesterday here on ATOT.

The vulnerability is in the Windows versions of Mozilla, Firefox and Thunderbird.
Linux, MacOS etc. are not affected.

This is the latest Opera vulnerability present in the recently released 7.52. This said, Opera is my secondary browser.

It's interesting to note that the Mozilla/Firefox vulnerability was announced at 6:46am and the fix was available by 11:16am the same day. Let's see Microsoft fix IE vulnerabilities that quickly. 😀

MOst of the time the fix can be made that quickly, the reason why it takes longer for MS to release a patch is because they test the fix for all the languages/locales/skus that they have the software out for. If open source people push out a fix that only fixes some of the problem or only on some skus then they will just push out another fix immediatly after. Since the cost fo distribution and installation is soo high for getting all windows machined patched they make sure that the pathc they release will work for everyone for all skus all the while not regressing existsing functionality.
