I poke around much and contribute mostly to Cases & Cooling and CPUs & Over-Clocking.

In connection with the cooling issue and the BIOS voltage settings issues surrounding the over-clock configurations, I've now measured the wattage consumption of my Q6600 Kenstfield (OC'd by at least 25%) -- in comparison to other computers and lower clock settings.

I started testing this rig with ORTHOS a few months ago. Half my brain must have been out-to-lunch, because I kept asking myself why the household power bill had increased beyond my previously very reliable budget projections. This -- in the face of rate increases from a local municipal utility company which costs consumers less with fewer brownouts than the other Southern California communities.

There are a lot of innovations that could be discussed on a Green Computing forum. For instance, "How to set up a small backyard solar-panel array to supplement computer power-consumption?" "How can I build a RAID5 array with a PCI, PCI-X or PCI-E controller that uses laptop drives -- reaping both performance gains and power consumption savings?"

Please start a "Green Computing" or "Green Computing and DIY" forum.
