warcrow: I just wanted to re-kindle some old memories and re-light the S.S. flame.

And noone seemed to care there either :(

Too bad there aren't many SS fans here.

I just got my PC Games magazine with Serious Sam 2 on the cover today. I think I'll hold off for a BM to check that out. :)

I think there are plenty of SS fans, it's probably the best FPS for a low-count LAN party. How many other PC FPS games are co-op?

I never cared for the SS games. The Serious Engine 2 looks mediocre as well - about on par with a spiffed Unreal Engine 2. Doom 3, Far Cry, HL2 etc. are definitely past its abilities.

I suppose the manic blast-fest gameplay appeals to some though...although I have yet to figure out why they don't spend all day pumping quarters into Area 51 in the arcade if all they want to do is point and click.

but none of those games could probably handle a billion monsters on the screen at once like SS

I didn't just drop quarters, I bought the game. :p

Seriously, I don't think much of the graphics in the new engine, and I would never play SS alone. It's one of those games that are great for parties though.

And? I prefer good hard fights with lower character count than masses of drones that run straight at you.

Exception may be made for that StarShip Troopers title I heard about a while back. Is it still coming out at some point? It seems to have dropped off the radar.

The SS series is one of those games you either love or hate. I would rather play a game that is fun rather than some over hyped game blah blah blah.

I'm actually relatively indifferent to the series. It's fun for about 45 minutes.

There are no modern FPS's that are even in the same category on the PC. It is the only arcade style FPS that is co-op. That's what makes it great.

Please list these better, "modern" games that allow MP co-op. I'd like to try them out.
