Serious Sam demo is COOL!

I need to how to benchmark my system with Serious Sam, so in a strict sense it is hardware-related. 😉

Waste of time for me. Downloaded, installed, configured video, sound, and controls. Start game and hard crash - had to reboot the box. Tried again and same thing. From what I saw on the intro the graphics looked pretty lame. Not up to today's standards.

Setup: BE6-2/P3-700@933/256MB/V3-3000(default)/SB Live Plat. Pretty standard stuff. If they can't make a game stable with 3dfx/SB parts they shouldn't bother...

Robor, I had no problem with my Pentium III, SB Live and Voodoo3 system, I have latest drivers for everything and it worked fine - if a little slowly. Also I agree with Ahfung, I thought the graphics were pretty cool.

Rober, I feel sorry for your experience. There is a patch available for Voodoo users, maybe you should try it before giving up.

Hmmm... I've got the latest V3 drivers installed but I didn't see any Voodoo patch before. Is the Voodoo patch for V3's? I noticed when I configured my video (changed detail level and resolution) that it recognized my card as a V3. Maybe I'll try that patch and give it one more chance. One thought, I am running Windows Me right now. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Is is an excellent game. It looks like it might get fully developed before its engine gets outdated. It is also a very nice demo to let run on a fast system.

Good looking maps/effects, but lame-ass gameplay and ugly models and weapons.

It's only fun for the technology (which still looks about 6 months out of date, nice water though) and if you're a compulsive circle strafer.

If you've got the time/bandwidth, it's a fun demo. The opening demo is really, really sweet (good music, reminiscent of MW2). Other than that, the game is pretty fun, more a throwback to old-school FPSers with new-school graphics. The Technology Tests are pretty nice to look at, too.

Definitely one of the better demos I've downloaded.
