What I mean is a mode that would let you and a friend on another computer across the net, co-operate to play the single player game.

Of course it is, that is practically the whole point of the second test they released.

Download Test 2
Install it (with GameSpy Arcade)
Download the 2.1a patch
Install it
Browse for servers with GameSpy Arcade

There's probably other server browsers that'll work, but GA came with test 2 so thats what servers should show up best with. First time you join a server it'll have you run a script for whatever type of connection you have. I think that should be all you need...if you have anything more speciffic ya need to know I might be able to help (but better yet they have a decent FAQ on their site).
