Dont think so, it's actually 4 real. There's a video in the download section, apparently shown at GDC this year? It demos physics and some silly, heavily pixel-shaded dancing NFL monster.

imho its intent is to look more "cartoony" and it succeeds in that regard.

Check out the video in the dld section. They've added some physics and used 3Dc mapping to create some pretty good effects.
