Lets here it guys. Spent the night at my brothers house last night. We watched the hockey game in the garage and of course i drank and ate too much pizza. Little did I know the garage is infested with rats.

Still kinda mad at my brother for not letting me know lol.

Low powered pellet gun. Use wadcutter pellets as the they have short range are quite effective on rats.

Kinda cruel but the bucket trick is fairly effective, bucket with water in it, and a metal rod with pop cans or other thing that can spin along the bar, then put peanut butter in the middle. They go to get the peanut butter and roll off.

For rats you probably want a bigger bucket, maybe a garbage bin.

Poison is bad. It makes them really thirsty, and they are more likely to chew stuff... such as pex water lines. That and they can carry the poison somewhere instead of eating it, and birds, squirrels and other wild life might end up eating it instead.

Woah, that's neat, spent the last 30 minutes on yourtube watching it's video... cruel, but all forms of rat traps are cruel.

Poison works but then when they eat the poison then get into the walls.....

The smell!

Get a few quality live traps and then when you catch them you can kill them or take them out into the woods far away and release them.

Well the glue traps are the the most cruel way to get rid of a rat or anything else. Have you ever watched a video of a rat in a glue trap. It is a disgusting way to kill rats. I don't like rats, but I don't hate them or want to torture them.

I bought some for my barn and watched a video on how best to set them and ended up throwing them away.

Better to trap them and then shoot them. Or an old fashion Snap Trap.

no need to watch vids, I've seen first hand what happens, we were pretty infested with mice and the poison did not really work, glue traps did

when they chew everything up, I don't get overly concerned cruelty, we just wanted them gone, when you see a mouse crawl on the curtains something drastic needs to be done

I don't view it anymore cruel than having a cat hunt them

Traditional snap-trap baited with the very tip of a chicken wing, use fishing line to tie it to trigger, rat will want to drag off the bait to consume later and tug on it to try and pry it free. I've had vermin actually lick off peanut butter and not trip the trap.

You do realize they breed way faster than your going to pick them all off with a pellet gun right?

The answer is poison and traps even then it can still be hard to get rid of the bastards.
