Serious question

I've noticed more and more people not only getting their/there/they're and your/you're etc wrong, but now "then" and "than" are getting mixed up, both ways.

It's not just here either, it's all over the world. I've noticed it cropping up in the UK, from foreign (European) people when they speak English.

I swear it's only started cropping up recently, maybe a year or so ago I don't recall ever seeing people confuse "then" and "than", but maybe it was just me...?

So, is the internet allowing quicker spreading of incorrect use of common terms? Is the internet encouraging lazyness in terms of spelling/grammar? Are people just less intelligent (somehow) than they were a year or two ago? Is it just me noticing these things and being driven slowly mad?

I know, people are going to scream about grammar nazi's and stuff, but seriously, it seems to be a recent phenomenon, much like other things which appear (axe/ask etc).

Here's a recent posting that should make your head explode "...a map of were they are in there profile under there name(just which nuber it is)."
