Serious question: NOT racist (I hope)

I know the title is probably slightly (or very) offensive, but I don't mean it to be.
This is partly inspired by the "senseless killings" thread, and partly from a coversation with a co worker about minorities (I live in 99.9% white area for probably almost a 100 mile radius), and I'm moving to inner city areas with very mixed races.

Well basically the co worker suggested those of mixed parents were very unfortunate because they wouldn't really be accepted into black or white groups (I don't agree that there really are black/white divides, except in retarded "positive" discrimination where blacks/females etc sometimes get preferential treatment because they're not white males).
So what do you think of people born on black/white mixed parents? Is there actually anything bad about it, except in the eyes of those who agree with racial discrimination?
The thread about the black guy killed for dating a white girl made me remember the conversation, because obviously it seems like there are unfortunately people who disagree with whites/blacks being together :(

Cliffs:
Convo about black.white mixed children
Co worker things they're bad
Won't be accepted into groups
I don't agree, as I don't have a problem with race
Some people seem to have a problem with race.
Thoughts?


(Asians w/black or white are less of a thing because they're more similar in the first place, so the mix of races is less obvious sometimes - plus people seem mainly bothered by blacks and whites. not anyone else)

Actually, I tend to find that mixed racial children are more common on the higher tiers, because the bottom end self-segregates and congregates. And I've known a few, they never had any problems with being accepted - but then, we were a very laid back, accepting bunch of kids.

Why do you even want to know what peoples opinions are on this? If its clear to you that there is nothing wrong interracial relationships, why even bring it up as a topic of discussion?

The term "half-breed" is offensive. If you know the title of the thread is offensive and use the title anyway, then you're trying to be offensive.

Most racist people will argue for days that they're not racist, when they really should just shut up and examine their belief systems

Well, I'm asian and my gf is white. We even hold hands and show effection in public without any problems. Then again I DON'T live in the South.

Did the OP say anything like "Black people shouldn't be allowed to have sex with white people"?...no!

He makes a valid point. In some places if you're half black and half white, white people wont accept you cause you're not white and black people wont accept you cause you're not black.

Simple as that.

Luckily attitudes like that are quickly diminishing, but they're still out there.

I'm 1/2 white 1/2 Chinese but look almost 100% white. Well not quite, some people can tell that I'm 1/2 something but would never guess Chinese. Too me it has always been a positive thing. For one thing since I don't look Chinese I'm not automatically assumed to be such and since I'm not 100% white I have the freedom to roam from one group to another and be usually accepted as an equal. Plus it's always fun to see the shock in peoples eyes when I speak Chinese:) People of mixed race get the best of both worlds in my opinion. As others have posted there are some very hot mixed women out there! Also I tend to find that those of mixed race have the most tolerance of differences. When you grow up with parents of 2 different races tolerance isn't something you learn it's something that you have from birth.
