I have a bad problem with my computer. I received a Athlon former CAD machine and it hasn't been playing games good. At first I figured it was just that the stock Quadro 4 videocard wasn't meant for games. I traded it for a better video card and put in a Radeon 9100 in the meantime which worked very good on my old machine. It played my games very bad. CSS is my most played game and it got 75fps in the stress test on low-medium settings. However, in game fps dropped to the single digits in a lot of cases. I ran Sisoft Sandra to see what was wrong. It says that my AGP bus is disabled and running at 1X speed. SmartGart shows it as off and DXdiag says AGP acceleration is disabled. I reset my bios to default, made sure AGP 4x support was enabled, and turned off any overclocking. It still didn't work. I searched a little bit, and found a few topics saying chipset drivers can affect this. I am not really sure what a chipset is or what one I have. Here are my specs:
Athlon XP 1800+ (showing up as 1.5ghz Duron for some reason)
640 mb pc2100
40gb 7200 rpm hardrive
Vsiontek AGP 128bit 64mb DDR Radeon 9100
I have Catalyst 5.1 and a friend recommended I get VIA accellerator too so I did.
My motherboard is an Asus A7m266. Can somebody help me?
