Serious problem with MSN Messenger and IE 6

For some reason today I can't connect to my MSN and my IE does not work. When I use another browser (MyIE2) the internet works. I have tried reinstalling MSN and IE but the same problem still occurs. Any suggestions? Everything was working fine yesterday and ppl in the residence have their msn's working.

And when I log into windows, zonealarm pops up and asks me to give permission or not for "Microsoft VM Command Line Interpreter" to access the internet. I have never gotten this before until today so I guess this has something to do with it. This Mircrosoft VM is associated with wjview.exe but i scanned it with norton with the latest definitions and no infection showed up.

Now with IE when I try to connect to a web site, it doesn't work but instead the bottom changes to somethine like perfectnav.com, but doesn't load that web page.

Also Note that yesterday I installed some christina aguilera screensaver and that installed some Ebates Moe Money Maker. I looked on the internet about this and it says it contained spyware so I removed it and from the registry and unistalled the registry.

Also yesterday I removed a virous called Trojan.Adclicker. I tried the auto delete but it didn't work so i went to symantec's website to see how to remove it. I deleted the update.exe from the \windows\system folder and removed the required values from the registry. After this everything was working fine.

Even after installing the screensaver during that day everything was fine. I didnt' do anything to my comp then today my MSN aint working and my IE aint working but the internet works on the other browser MyIE2. I did some windows updates and it still didn't work.

I've removed all spyware and scanned for viruses using the latest definitions like twice over, defragged c:\ and d:\, and the same problems still persist.

Someone please help me, and I dont want to format!

thanks!

If you're using Windows XP, you can also do a "system restore" to bring your system back to an earlier date (e.g. before you started making all these changes and adding these programs). You won't lose any email or documents by going back. You WILL have to reinstall any programs you've installed after the restore date you choose, but by the sounds of things, there are programs you wouldn't be installing again!

I just figured the problem out, it wasted me a few hours. Turns out that I left a proxy in IE and forgot about it, and it probably stopped functioning, making IE and MSN stop working too. Such a simple solution yet I had to scan my comp for viruses and defragment

Click Tools->Interent Options->Connections->LAN Settings. Uncheck "Use a proxy server for your LAN"
