Serious problem with computer....URGENT

I have a P2-450/ 256mb ram/ NVidia TNT machine running Windows XP. Now recently it started shutting down on its own. A small window pop-ups giving me 60s warning time. It says the machine is rebooting due to a RPC problem. I'm not sure what caused it.

I haven't installed a piece of software or driver in a long time, so it can't be that. Is it XP just self-destructing??

Thanks for any advice and help to solve this issue.

thanks guys!!! It seems I was too stupid to read teh stickies. My bad.

However, how could one cause this RPC overflow?? Is it a software installed on my computer or a cookie from a site I went to??

someone with your ip (they just have to scan whole isps)

its not anything you did, it's what you didn't do (update windows)

Not sure, but basically you've had someone dicking around your computer and when they leave, it makes it reboot.

First, backup and reformat because your data is compromised and you probably have a trojan somewhere.
Second, get a friggin' firewall.
Third, turn off RPC.
