Last night, i came ho,em and my computer, which was on, wouldnt resume from sleep mode. I pressed restart and the monitor turned on and showed that my system had hanged. When i restartd my computer it would post. It would post if i kept on pushing the restart button. Now theres a bigger problem. I would push restart and it would go straight to the FF Code, restart again and it would go to A0. Eventually it would start giving my random codes that were under reserve. I couldnt even get the damn machine to post.

After removing a video card and 1 stick of ram i still couldnt get it to post. I moved my stick of ram around and finally was able to get it to post(system boots better with slot farthest away from CPU, one closest hangs more and gives more errors). Which it would usually hang around C1, C3 or even 75(HDD detection). If i did get past those errors and made it into the bios it would hang randomly. I reloaded all the defaults, but it still would hang. Eventually i upped the voltage on my memory and that allowed me to boot into windows, which had a BOOTMGR error from which it shut down last night. The problem was that every time i tried to boot into windows repair it would hang. HANG HANG HANG is the main word i want to use. I can boot into windows eventually once i messed around with enough stuff, but it hangs before i can even do anything.

w/ 2.0 Volts the system posts but hangs everywhere else

Also one time before i couldnt even post i took out all my ram and it still went to the FF code, meaning everything booted fine, but obviously thats wrong.

Hangs in windows, hangs in bios, etc etc. I dont know whether its my ram, motherboard, or my cpu that is broken. I had my e8400 OCed to 3.91, but the temps were very low. Ive tried both sticks of ram and it gives the same result. What should i look for if my CPU is broken, or whether its my mobo?

I disabled my CPUs second core and severley underclocked it, but the system still hangs!

PLEASE HELP

When you say "hang", what actually happens? Does the video output completely lock up? Does the mouse cursor move? Will it recover if you wait? Does it automatically reboot? Bluescreen?

You mentioned resetting defaults.. have you cleared CMOS via jumper/removed the battery? Definitely try that.

I doubt your CPU is faulty, especially if you can make it into the BIOS. Do an out-of-case build on some cardboard and use only PSU, mobo, CPU, heatsink/fan, 1 stick of RAM, and video card. If you have no problems, then you may have a grounding issue in the case.

But apparently there have been many issues with 7-series boards like this. I read some other accounts of people getting "FF" codes when no RAM is present. Are you getting an instant FF when you try to boot, or does it usually go through other codes first? Google around and you'll find a lot of other problems:

Anyway, I'm leaning toward your mobo, but your experience with the RAM slots is a little puzzling. Anyway, try the advice described in this thread:

I also read that you may be able to reseat the BIOS chip, as sometimes they pop out a bit? Seems pretty odd, but worth a check.
