I have a problem whenever I overclock my 4400+ CPU even by 1Mhz.
I Got the X2 4400+ because I was told it would play H.264 1080p smoothly, well it almost does, but lags considerably in fast action scenes.
So, I overclocked it to 2.41Ghz (from 2.21 stock) and it plays them fine, no lag whatsoever. However, there is an annoying issue.
Whenever I open programs, there is a flicker, sometimes 2 or 3 flickers at a time. And it happens with lots programs, Quicktime 7, Internet Explorer, Fraps - it's just really irritating and I don't know what to do about it.
It's not my graphics card because there is no flickering when the CPU is at stock, and the temperatures are all fine anyway (36C Idle @ 2.41).
I tested to see if 2.41 was too big an overclock so I overclocked it to just 2.23 and the flickering still occured.
I guess I'm a newbie at OC'ing, I don't know if I should be overclocking RAM as well, but I doubt it.
My power supply should be sufficient, it's 580W and apparently peaks at over 600W.
The only thing I can think of is that my graphics card (XFX 7800GTX 256mb Extreme E) is not getting enough power after the overclock (maybe the extra volts given to the CPU is taking away from the card?) - because I know my graphics card probably needs as much power as it can get.
I upped my VCore to 1.45 which is about right I think (for the overclock).
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks
