Serious issues overclocking with a DFI Ultra-D

Here's my rig:

Venice 3000+
DFI Ultra-D
ATI Radeon X800XL
1 GIG OCZ Gold PC3700
Latest BIOS 3.10
CPU Voltage: 1.5
LFT: 1.3
RAM: 2.9

Ok, here's my problem. I'd been letting my CPU burn-in for the past twenty four hours and decided today to start testing its limits. I followed Zebo's guide to the T, and to safeguard it even more I went to dfi-street and used the settings they recommend there. I took my HTT up to 300, was able to POST and boot fine, so I moved on to CPU max speed.

I drove my memory all the way down so that it would not play a factor. But, as soon as I started pushing towards 250 FSB, I started getting strange artifacting errors. Prime95 would crash immediately, but what worried me more was that Windows would get these weird jagged white lines. I took the HTT back down and the problem didn't really go away. I also got blue screens every now and then, so I said hell with it and reformatted. When I did this, I also moved my X800XL to the second PCI x16 slot, to try and stop it from sitting right over the chipset fan.

The install went fine, but the artifacting didn't get any better. So, I figured it may have been the drivers. I uninstalled ATIs drivers and installed Omega drivers. Well, the artifacting stopped, but then I started getting blue screens like crazy. Even when I took the HTT back down to standard, I couldn't get into Windows. What was so frustrating about this is that when I was in Windows, prime95 was stable on a 260HTT, whereas earlier it failed outright. So, I switched the card back to the first PCI-E slot and lo and behold, I boot fine. The drivers install, no artifacting, wonderful. Except now my overclocks suck again. I can't even get into the BIOS with an FSB of 250 (and a multi of 9)--I POST, but if I try going into the BIOS it just hangs at a black screen.

I'm at my wits end. Is the PCI-E on this board locked? What the hell could have caused all of this? Why in God's name can't I overclock well when my video card is in this slot? I've taken the chip back down to normal speeds and it runs prime95 perfectly well, so I don't think anything's damaged. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

You never mentioned either way....have you updated the motherboard's BIOS to the newest version?
