Serious IDE 2 problem

I have problem with Abit BH-6 motherboard. It does not find cd-players from IDE 2, or it does, but wrong. I have Samsung player and HP9100 CD/RW. BIOS finds cd's like "Scmsu&g", so spelled wrong. Win98 finds cd's, reads size(MB) of disk inside and nothing else. Cable is ok, Auto option in Bios is enabled, bios ver is 4.51, tried to change master/slave jumpers. Can anyone help?

Have you tried a different IDE cable?

Are the power plugs in properly and do you have a large enough power supply?

Do your drives work correctly in other machines?

I tried other cable, no help. I had factory made Siemens Celeron 433, don't remember name of motherboard, all other parts are same and worked in old machine, it still can be lack of power. Power plugs are ok. I have to check that.Any other ideas?
