I wear the Johnson and Johnson AcueVue and leave them in 3 or 4 weeks regularlly. The only time I cut the time short is when I'm working out in the yard, or when it is very dry. I don't take them out in the evening or anytime. They stay in for a full 3 or 4 weeks. I've spoke with my eye doctor and he says that 2 weeks is a rule. Each person is different, so if you want to experiment and see how long you can leave a set of contact in, go ahead. Once I left them in for 5 and a half weeks just to see how long I could leave them in. I developed a soar on my eyes and couldn't wear contacts for about 2 weeks afterwards.

I've recently switched brands to American Contacts. Even though they don't have the AV stamped on the contact, their contacts are much thinner (a bit harder to work with), but feel much better than the AcueVues. They are cheaper too!

I, too, go way to long with em in. I really need to get in the habit of regularly cleaning/replacing them, but I'm just so damn lazy. I should just get the damn surgery done...

My ex used to push them also, but she would clean them nightly. One time, before I met her, she pushed them without cleaning them and ended up with a double eye infection. She learned her lesson!

I have the daily ones, you know, good for a year or whatever. I take 'em out every night and wash/soak 'em and put them in in the morning. I find it a lot easier to put them in after the morning shower :)

FWIW, I regularly wear the B&L disposables for about 2-3 months at a time, and so far I haven't had a problem in the 2 years since I switched to them. I do take them out and clean them every night (with my vision being as bad as it is, I've always had to do this, even with extended wear lenses) but my eye doctor told me that as long as I did that and washed hands etc. etc. I should be fine as long as I pitch them at the first sign of discomfort. I've yet to actually get a pair to that point, though-if I don't pitch them every 2 months or so, they'll expire! Which reminds me, I should have pitched this pair at the beginning of February-oops... :Q

I wear AcuVue2's.

Supposed to be 2 weekers, but I generally get 3-4 out of them. I don't really keep track. I just change them when they feel bad.

I generally will take them out and clean/soak them for a day on a weekend.

Not a bright idea, as I almost found out the hard way. Guys, seriously... don't f*ck with your eyes.

I used to "overclock" my lenses too. But then the capillaries in my eyes started to lengthen, because my eyes were starving for oxygen. I was informed by the eye doctor that they were very close to causing permanent eye damage. He refused to give me a contact lens prescription. I phoned another eye doctor, just to get a second opinion. He basically confirmed what the first doctor said. I never had any pain or discomfort, so I thought all was well.

A couple years later, my eyes healed just fine. I now wear contacts occasionally, but I still wear my glasses more often. I like my eyes. :)

Really, not taking care of your eyes is not a good idea.

Wingznut is right, I also tried wearing my contacts way too much. Now I can't even wear them for an hour without discomfort. I'd like to get that laser surgery eventually though.

Because CPUs you can RMA (depending on where you buy them). Eyes are all purchases final, no refunds or exchanges.

I know someone that kept his on for 2 months without taking it out. He was almost blinded when it caused an infection in his eye.

If you sleep with your contacts they might roll into the back of your eye socket and cause you to DIE.

I used to wear my contacts for long periods of time... I just underwent LASIK eye surgery about 2 months ago, and as I was getting it done, the doc was like "I see you wore your contacts a lot". I guess it does build up blood vessels when you wear them to much. I'm really glad I don't have to wear contacts or glasses anymore. Last visit to the eye doctor my vision was 20/15 by the way.
