I might need some 1 on 1 help because this is how it goes. I'm running a msi k7t turbo board. I install the board in my case today, the cpu was already installed with HSF, so i didn't have to do that. i put in the power source block thingy on to my board and i hooked up the power button and restart button. I turned it on and it worked. Then i turned it off and finished up the build. lan, video, sound, hard-drives, cd-roms and everything. all the fixings. here i am about to close my case, i try to run it. NOTHING!

the computer doesn't start up. i tried to remove all the parts and turned it on nothing. But if i remove the PSU and the jumper wires for the power button and put them back in, turn it on then the cpu fan turns about 1 revolution thats all. someone please help me.

yes sir. i'm not stupid things are what it most likely is.

actually the PSU doesn't have a switch for on or off like my other ones. and it turned on at the start of my build, and now at the end the cpu fan does spin a little. i just dont know what it is. i never had issues when i but my p4 system but this amd one is weird.

oh the PSU is running on 115. which is the same on all 3 of my PSU's so i figure thats not the problem.

I never touched the heatsink because i dunno how to do it. when i bought it, it was already installed on there. the computer did turn on 4 times but on the final time that i needed it to work it didn't.

How would i be able to tell if its seated right. Well during the build i didn't even touch the Heatsink at all.

Hmm....

First, what brand is the PSU?

Also, try starting up the PC with just the bare minimum. Take out the SBlive/modem/NIC card. Might want to try the RAM in different configurations to make sure they aren't the problem either.

check if there are any loose screws in the case...your motherboard might be shorting out.(shake the case a little to see if anything's loose)

ah ha. actually elecrzy was semi right on that. turns out that i guess the screws were on the board too tight because i took off all the screws and tried to run it bare out of the case and it did work. I screwed everything in tight again it didn't so i went around really soft and it works.

Now problem #2. puter is running and all but no video. I turn it on disconnect my monitor from my computer and try it on that. No signal. I used that geforce2 and i used my own geforce2 64mb it didn't work. I dont i dont wanna open my computer up again and try my geforce4 unless i have to.

Have you tried clearing the CMOS yet?

Also, you said the PC worked fine the first couple of times? Did it POST alright(I.E. video came on, you could enter BIOS, ect)?

the first time was the only time i pluged the video in. and it did post i didn't enter bios because i was running a HD off another XP computer w/o a cd-rom so it didn't really work out.

How would you clear CMOS? clearing it would involve a little jumper setting. like say its a 3 pin jumper. and normally its on 1-2. i would need to start it on 2-3 and put it back on 1-2 right?

1. Make the PC is getting power from the wall (PSU is plugged in and is set to on if it has a switch in the back).
2. Put the jumper on pins 2-3 for about 15 seconds, then put them back on 1-2. This will clear CMOS.

DO NOT turn the PC back on until you've got the jumper back on pins 1-2.

DO NOT turn the PC back on under you've got the jumper back on pins 1-2.

can you rephrase that statement. Dont turn it on if its on the 1-2 ?

lol I almost posted a question about my power supply a few minutes ago. Then I checked the back and realized that not only was the power supply not "on," but it wasn't even plugged in...

Looks like somebody got a little too excited about his new GeForce...

well i gotta bump this. i thought maybe if i let my computer sleep over night it should work in the morning and nothing doing. Still no signal to my moniter. Doesn't everythign need to be pluged in ? Because this is what i'm doing i'm just pulling the moniuter cable off my moniter and putting it in the new one. Only thing pluged to the new one is the PSU. when its plug it goes to sleep mode where my moniter light is orange. once i plug it back into my computer ( one i'm using now) it powers up great.
