SERIOUS computing power! Must see!

I realy think that this is worth downloading, It is a tour of Nvidia's huge computing facility, It puts all of us to shame! Get it here!! 20mb .wmv file

*Must get mole (<Austin Powers>Mole! Mole! *wheeze*Moooolllleeeeee*wheeze*</Austin Powers> ) into nVidia, and assimilate the server farm in my name*

actually they want to get the Opteron cause the server run too slow in clock speed or other limitations.

Well if Im ever going to be a biljoner I promise to buy one and put it to do Seti or something 🙂.

/me drooling 24-way P4 cpus with 196 GB RAM

Now I know why CA is having all these power problems....turn a few rows off and that should solve it right there!!!

sweet jeebuz! thats around 5.7+Thz:Q

of P4 power alone. ...plus a few nice Sun systems.😎😛

they must have thier own power plant for that place. to power the cpu's and keep the AC running. 2300+cpu's has just got to produce a little heat even if they're not oc'd AMDs.😉😛

I can say this much for sure. The power plant in my town could not even think of producing the power for their computers. I estimate that the room by itself uses 10.9 MegaWatts of power.

If they were to move that building here to Nome Alaska, the data room alone can probably heat our entire city :Q.

I don't think those are P4's in those sunfires.

Holy Moly Rock N Rolly!! :Q

That is a LOT of horsepower. And data storage. 90 Terrabytes, not including the new data center. :Q

Could you imagine all that horsepower turned into SETI crunchers? :Q Why, we could just take the Quad P4 rows and crunch. I wonder how long it would take to gain 1st with those babies. 😀

I liked the Linux license plate too. 🙂

Of course, they are running some monster jobs on those Sunfires. :Q 6 weeks to complete a job? :Q:Q

Thanks Titanmiller. I gotta go change shirts, drooled all over this one. 😉

😀

Sounds cool. I've seen some still pics before (Anand took a trip to Nvidia and ATi's places and posted some pics, including one of the huge simulator that simulated the GFFX core - at a speed of a few KHz 😉), but am going to download this video too. You can expect a report back from me in about an hour and 15 minutes (dasm dialup).

Nummmmmmmmy. And I thought Imation had some nice hardware in the data room I used to work at. This place blows any other company I have seen away....

How long would it take us to be #1 with that kind of power? And more practically, how much bandwidth would 19,000 WUs/day take up? Hmm, according to my calculations, you would need 39.58 kbytes/sec of upload capacity (that's 316.64 kbits/sec) continuously to upload all of those WUs (that's basing on an assumption that each WU is 180 kbytes). I have no idea what download bandwidth would be needed. :Q
