this problem has been happening for the past 3-4 days. everytime i attempt to turn on the computer, nothing would happen. and this would occur in 2 different ways:
-nothing would happen, as in the computer would not even turn on.
-or the computer would turn on and nothing would display on the monitor and the motherboard would make a beeping sound.
on the rare occasion that the comptuer does boot up correctly, messed up problems still occur. EXTREME lag. i would move the mouse and do my usual comptuer stuff for a good 10-20 seconds then it would freeze for about a minute. then it would unfreeze and continue in its operations. and of course the cycle starts all over again. during this lag time, the hard drive light glows a solid red light as if the cpu is under heavy processing load. to make it even worse, every now and then a nasty clicking noise comes from somewhere in the tower (random instances, but only during the lag/solid-red-HD-light periods).
i have decided that is isnt a hard drive problem, i have booted up in dos to check for bad sectors, but everything was fine. and it doesnt make sense for a comptuer to lag (or not turn on at all) just because a hard drived is fried. information would just be lost and i wouldnt have access to teh drive at all.
additional information:
computer was built 2 years ago, never overclocked
temperature has always been around 30-35 celcius (is this good?), according to the bios
any ideas as to what is causing this problem? ram, CPU, power supply?
