Serious College Question

Hi,

The two colleges I am debating between right now are Brandeis University and Syracuse.

If you have any thoughts about either one of these schools it would be greatly appreciated! I spent six weeks at Syracuse University summer college, so I know a good deal about the school. I, however, know next to nothing about Brandeis. I will be studying political science, by the way.

Thanks!

Beau

Don't judge it completely on the academic aspect.

Visit and find out which school's character fits you best.

That was my plan. I'm going to visit Brandeis soon, but i was wondering if any ATers went there and had first hand experience. Honestly, SU has a pretty good polysci program. I think Brandeis's is good too... hmm.... Also, I don't give a damn about who ranks what college ahead of another, they are all BS anyway.

I'd say Syracuse is good, I know for a fact that they have a great masters program in national security, and their poli sci stuff is well respected. And the campus atmosphere is pretty good I'm sure b/c its a state school.

Brandeis I've heard is sorta nerdy, it's traditionally a Jewish school too. Bout all I know.

I was at Brandeis this weekend. The campus is run-down and pretty dirty and old-looking (not n a good way), although the college is only 50 years old. It's like they built the place and never touched it again.

err.. my gf goes to Brandeis..

60% of the student population is jewish, are you one by any chance? My gf's roommate is jewish as well. Of course there's nothing wrong with that, just to keep in mind as a fact.

it's a very good school, my gf is Loving every bit of it. Academically demanding/great school spirit/very involving activities... There's also a very established asian community in 'deis and my gf loves it... (being korean)

i wish my school had those (uml blows a big alskjfe)

I was at Brandeis over the summer. I disagree with LeRocks, the campus isn't the best but its decent, and they had active construction (I think for a new student center?) One thing that got to me though was most of the people seemed kind of strange - I guess you'll have to judge for yourself, just make sure to check out the student body before making a decision...

I'm 1/2 Jewish, so i wouldn't feel so weird. I live right nearby, in West Roxbury.

SU, btw, is not a state school. Private institution. As for paying; that's all taken care of. Believe it or not my dad hit it big with stocks in the late 90s and so we have enough for whatever college I want to go to.

whats limiting you to syracuse and and brandeis?

if i had to pick around the east, id do: dartmouth and brown... in that order 😀

SU is not a state school. And what are you inferring about SUNY schools having a good atmosphere? I'm confused 😕
