plus the shooting in Oklahoma that killed 6, including kids. Then now we have 2 dead FBI agents in Florida and others shot. 'Murica where guns should be sold like candy

Guns don’t kill people, people do. Too bad there were not enough good guys with a gun.

I never fail to invite good guys with guns to my parties. /s

Provided the guns themselves stay outside unless your a LEO that's fine in my book all sarcasm aside. I for one still run TOWARDS police when the crap hits the fan. (and no, not waving a torch lol!)

57 years and MANY seriously sketchy situations in my life (when I was younger and FAR dumber!) yet not a single one of them would have ended better if a gun was involved.

I AM a Leo. When trouble stirs I don't run toward cops. TBH, I don't know that I've ever seen another human being with gun in hand other than when I was a tenderfoot Boyscout, when I demonstrated marksmanship in a prone position on Catalina Island. The only guns I've seen in person since have been holstered on law enforcement.

I found a bullet embedded in the interior surface of my living room wall some years ago. This house has a history, being 110 years old.

my father was a hunter and a gun collector. I have been around guns since I was a kid. He drilled it into me how serious guns are and the proper way to handle them. So, I have never done anything stupid with guns.

I had no idea ... guess I've been slacking! ;)

I've had the misfortune of guns being pointed at me several times ... only once by police and it was mistaken identity @ 3am in a drug-area.

Somewhat ironically all three of the other times it was due to me being mistaken FOR a cop!

:p

And "run towards cops" was meant more figuratively ... I'm not running towards anyone holding a gun!

I didn't own guns as a kid but am old enough that "Riflery" and "Marksmanship" were a regular part of my YMCA summer camps.

Safety was drilled into everyone's head before ever picking up a gun.

Everyone should be taught how to properly handle guns... problem is that so many are not.

I'm pretty sure my father would never have had a gun in the house. He fought in Burma in WWII, already an M.D., and saw way too much of what guns do to people. He came back a different man, his aunt said. It changed his personality. He wrote a memoir, talked about everything but didn't discuss the grislier things he'd seen. It was for PG consumption, not rated R.

that is why too many people have an unreasonable fear of guns.

also keep in mind I live in Canada which currently has seriously restrictive gun laws.

Canada has a proud history of hunting and survival in harsh areas. No one even raised an eyebrow about kids carrying guns less than 100 years ago. It was the way things were out in the country.
