Serious artifcating on GF1 DDR Creative

i've got a gf1 ddr from creative that I bought used. When I popped it in it was fine and I switched to the 21.81 drivers and when I tried to kick the rez up to 1280x1024@32 it locked up so I rebooted and it was fine I set the rez to 1024x768@16 and it was fine. I set it to 1024x768@32 and I started to see some artifacts on the background wallpaper (not on the taskbar or any windows) When I set it to 1280x1024@16 I saw a few artifacts, when I went to 32 bit I saw a lot of artifacts on the wallpaper. I'm downloading coolbits right now to make sure that the memory or core isn't o/c but it shouldn't be. Anyone got any ideas what the deal is? Its on a Asus A7V w/ a duron 750. I'm running WinXP Pro.

just checked its running at stock speeds... every now and then when I change to 1280x1024 it just freezes while its redrawing the screen.

I'd say it's the drivers....I have the same card and up untill recently would just run with 6.31 dets. Everything else would either produce some artifacts or locks.
The latest 22.50 seem to be pretty stable for me so far. First new set of dets I've seen that actually look pretty good. We gotta face facts though too........our CLAPs are gettin' long in the tooth.
