Serial ports dont work, eh ???

Hey All -

I think that the problem is a bad mobo but thought I'd see what everyone else says -

ASUS A7M266
AMD 1.4 Tbird
400w PWS
Win98SE
256 Crucial DDR Ram
ATI Xpert98 Vid Card (wee!)
...

The standard ports for the Keyboard and mouse do not work at all. A USB Keyboard works great.
A logitech mouse works fine with an adapter into the other serial ports - but a USB mouse will not work????

I'm thinking it's a bum board but who knows, any ideas?
 
I was looking at that - there are lots of settings to choose but which is best? They were on but I noticed there are different IRQs etc. that you can chose for each port.
