Serial ports and IRQ's

Hi there
I'm trying to install an additional two serial ports into a clients computer with winME. I set the ports to COM3 & 4, and the IRQ's to those available, but everytime winME boots up, it sets the IRQ's on 3 & 4, and doesn't recognise the two older ports. I can't set the IRQ's different in windows and it doesn't matter what I set it to on the card. Has anyone got the solution (or any point to the right direction) to my frustrating problem.

what irqs have you got free?
if you have an unshared slot with a free irq then assign the free irq to that slot in bios & set PnP OS in bios to no!

Com ports 1 and 3 are the same and 2 and 4 are the same. You can't have more than 2 "real" or traditional serial ports. I suggest using a USB hub and connecting 2 serial to usb adapters on it.

This might sound crazy, but resolving com port conflicts has always been the biggest pain in the ass for me. I can't wait for them to go away. Legacy technology.
