I noticed this morning when formatting four (4) Sandisk SD cards that on each and every one of the cards, the formatting program displayed the serial numbers of all 4 of the cards as the same serial number.

All 4 of these SD cards were the exact same model, etc. but instead of all 4 having the exact same serial number, it would seem to me that each and every card would have its own UNIQUE serial number.

Why are the serial numbers shown as being the same ?

Thanks.

Actually I resolved the problem. What it displays is the serial number of my Kingston USB SD card reader. Seems to me it would be better if it somehow read the serial number from the SD card itself. However, I also discovered that the serial number for each SD card is printed on the back of the card, however you have to have a pretty good magnifying glass or some eagle eyes in order to read it. Thanks.

Oh, and the fact serial numbers on devices are always on the side you don't see when installed.
When registering my m.2 SSD (for added warranty) I realized i should have read that before installing since it is on the side that is " down". Same for a PSU I had to RMA, the serialnumber on the bottom. so if you only have one PC, you need to do that online stuff with the component in question not installed....
