I am assuming its legal to give out serial number for evaluation versions, since you get them for free, you just pay shipping and handling. Well i have the cd, my friend gave it to me but i lost the serial number. I really wanted to try it out and see what the difference between it and regular server are. Anywaysif someone could help or tell me its not legal i'd appreciate it.

Hi,

I don't have either the serial number (for the advanced copy) nor do I know if it is leagal or not. But the only difference between Win2k Server and Advanced Server is that Advanced Server supports SMP which the regular Server ver does not. In NT this was the same difference between NT Server 4.0 and NT Enterprise Server 4.0

Amit.

Windows 200 Server supports SMP, my friend runs Server with his dual p3's. See here. If you notice it says server can handle up to 4 processors.

Server and even workstation can handle smp. In fact i think server goes to 4 processors and advanced server goes to 8. I also know that you can balance server loads with advanced server, i just wanted to see if it differed that greatly. I will jsut try to find my regular server cd and run that. Thanks anyways guys.

Supergax thaks for the link, i just checked it out. SHould have read that before posting, but i was right it supports more mem and processors and load balancing, but thats about it. Don't know why i didnt see that page when i was searching ms's site. I kept going to the server AND advanced server page, must have looked over where they had them broken down.
