Serial HDs worth it yet?

Been pondering getting some new serial drives for this here MAX3... what are you guys using? I think I'd want to get a model that sports that new tag feature, the one SCSI drives have. Noise is an important consideration to me as well. I'm using 40GB Seagate Barracudas in RAID 0 currently, on the Silicon controller.

Any advice?

I believe the only Serial ATA drives that support tagging are the new Western Digital Raptors, the 74GB and 37GB models. The 74GB model can be found at www.atacom.com, albeit for a hefty $300.00. If you are looking for quiet drives they may not be the ones to go with, since the first generation Raptors have a nice high pitched sound to them, I never really noticed it, but it is there when I listen closely enough. Probably the quitest Serial ATA drives available now are the Seagate drives, but they don't include the tagging feature.

The new Raptors use fluid bearing motors, so they don't whine like the 'old' ones (which mine never did).

I would use it just to maximize the parallel IDE of cd/dvd writers.. ie putting each HDD on its on channel. Using SATA, you can have 1 CD/DVD recorder on each parallel IDE channel giving you compatibility and speed.

Some people have problem burning CD because their cd rom are sharing channel with HDD. Any additional features are a plus.
