Serial Drive intially? 9700 pro video

I was planning on using a Serial drive only no IDE, I kind of hoped that would be a neat thing as I orderd a Maxtor Serial Drive. While reading through the Users guide (ABIT online one), I noticed that Windows XP needs to be loaded to load the Chipset software. Will the BIOS and MB allow me to use the Serial drive without this software? Iguess the answer is yes since the same thing would apply for an IDE drive but just checking to make sure. Another questiion, will the Sapphire 9700 radeon video card with the heat pipe cooling fit? it looks kind of tight between the northbridge cooler and the AGP board? The ZAlman web page doesn't say anything about it not fitting so again I'm assuming it will.

sorry I thought I was in the IC7G folder but I guess not. ANyway that is the board I'll be using

I moved the original to the IC-7g folder for teh input from the current users. sorry to be a PIA
