I bet my dad that i was right.

Cant you install a Serial ATA harddrive without having to have an IDE drive connected already?

You can have a purely SATA Drive system if your MB suports it. My MB supports 2 drives. I put in the install CD which is a bootable. It takes me into a menu that sets it up. In the MB bios there is a priority for what device to boot to. With a SATA drive you set the SATA-1 or however your MB lists it. That way your MB knows where to look for the boot drive, i.e. your SATA hd.
