Hey everyone,
I just got the P4G8X and I want do put my parallel ata drives in a RAID 0 config. I only bought one SATA to PATA converter though... do i need two?? Am i just supposed to convert both drives to serial? is there any way i can have one serial and one IDE and still get raid? thanks!

In order to use a pair of drives on the Promise 376 controller, you MUST use a pair of SATA drives or PATA drives with adapters. That PATA connector supports ATA133 (no RAID) ONLY on this board. I dunno why it's like that but it is.

Cheers!

This is a good board for my purposes. I thought long and hard and decided that this had the best feature set, even compared to the new Granite Bay boards. The one nit is that RAID is supported through Serial ATA. You can have one parallel ATA drive in the RAID array, but the other must be SATA (or parallel with a SATA converter). A new board from ABIT enables RAID subsystems made up from parallel ATA drives.
This board does seem to run the CPU hot (no overclocking) but my system is stable and fast.

Replacement mobo worked fine now. All PCI cards are functional. I've also added 2 WD 80GB HDDs in a Raid 0 configuration. Got a parallel to serial SATA connector from Newegg and everything works great. Thanks to NewEgg for fast RMA turnaround time!
