Serial ATA RAID and large drives

memo

Golden Member
I was thinking about setting up a new serial ATA raid rig with 2 200GB Western Digitals. Say my mobo doesn't support drives larger than 137(i think thats the cut off) and theres no bios update, will the raid card be able to take care of the size issue? Thanks

Its an old DELL, an intel board i think, i cant find the model number at the moment, not near the box, I plan on striping and mirroring 4x200 or just stripping 4x200.

Don't strip the drives. It's bad for the hard ware.

Pretty much any SATA controller out there should work fine with bigger drives. The whole LBA48 thing came out before SATA controllers did...
