Just wanted to report that I put in a Syba serial ATA card (for $17.50, how can you go wrong?) and a serial ATA Seagate hard drive...worked like a charm....setup is fast and smooth...no errors or corruption as of yet.
Just posting this here since most (if not all?) of these add-in serial ATA controllers state PCI 2.2 or 2.3 is needed...and all our old Socket-7 motherboards are PCI 2.1....so it does work everyone, at least the Syba does.
Here's my original thread over at StorageReview: Add-in Serial ATA Controller: PCI 2.1 Good Enough?
Hope anyone doing this had an easy a time as I did!
