serial ata hard drive

I'm thinking about getting a serial ata hard drive as a xmas gift to myself.
Most likely the 74gig raptor.

How much of a performance increase will I get?
currently I'm using a 7200rpm with 8 meg cache western digital, 8ms I believe I can't remember

p4 2.8, 1.25 gigs of ram.

If I switch my primary hard drive to a serial ata drive. can I still use my 2ndary hard drive which will remain as pata?

in other words have one hard drive as s-ata and a 2nd hard drive as p-ata.

umm that's it for now. can't really as bios config till I get one. any help will do.

It's really won't be a huge performance increase.
If you are a gamer, getting a better video card would likely be a much better upgrade.

Use the search function to find more specific info if you want, as this gets asked every week at least.

And yes, you will be fine running the Raptor & your other drive together.
There's no primary or secondary stuff with SATA; each drive is an individual channel.
