How is this thread meaningful at all...

I'm asking myself that question as well.

If you guys don't get back on the topic of gadgets and mobile devices, I'm going to lock this thread.

If this is meant to slam Google Glass, then ok. I can see how "cool" it is just like maybe Android was cool when it first came out, but with hype comes the reality. The cold reality that Google usually executes horribly on these things. They'll show you all the working features, but it could take 5 years for polish and what not. I would be surprised if this is some overpriced stuff with a bunch of hype.

Chromebook, Chromebook Pixel, Android tablets... lol.

So the OP knows that this isn't OT, right?

I hope so.

Still talking about Brin's wife wearing Google's Glass project to the Oscars seems vaguely on-topic enough for MD&G. It could result in a discussion of whether there will be mainstream acceptance of "Glass". Definitely talking about whether walking around looking vaguely like someone from Star Trek looks "cool" or "stupid" is a legitimate topic of discussion for a mobile device like Glass because the success or failure of the product will depend on whether people are willing to wear it in public.

The discussion about grammar and spelling - and whether or not the Brin's are hot - seems pretty far off-topic. As far as I'm concerned, Oblama can use whatever spelling he wants in threads - I previously asked him to make sure that the titles are legible - and this one is - and I am grateful to him for complying on that request. My spelling and grammar aren't perfect - I have a bad tendancy to drop words - so I'm not going to criticize anyone else for it. And a discussion about grammar isn't really relevant to MD&G anyway.

If you view the glasses as voice control smart phone (perhaps minus the phone itself) that you wear; one can see how they have some advantages - though even if they execute near perfectly i would think there is serious risk impose by the distraction. As she demonstrated the video camera options are quite amusing because it is hand off controls.

Though if they are successful I expect states to pass no-driving with smart glasses laws and that one town that has a no-text while walking law to follow :)

I like how he's asking her all sorts of questions and she's just saying "ok glass" over and over.

I think Glass is much less distracting than what people currently do (i.e. phone goes off and people glance down to check, or glance down to follow navigation steps).
