<< "I think Serena puts a little too much emphasis on her game of tennis. And if she keeps that up, she can turn out to be one of the dumbest athletes in the world," he said. >>

Say what?

A couple of years ago he predicted V and S would be 1 and 2 in the world. Now he seems to preach education.

Anyway, what he said was just stupid and probably hurt Serena.

I think it's futile to put any concept of rationality behind that man's words. He just strikes me as a half-aware crackpot.

i think saying that to the press was tacky.

serena is an adult. she should be treated like one. she's responsible for her own life now, not her dad trying to shame her in public.

he's an awkward and embarassing jackass, most would agree.

One of the dumbest athletes of the world?? Hmmm.. i dunno about that, there should would be plenty competition, and would be a very very difficult title to gain... now #1 in the world in tennis, pshhh.. no problem.... BUT DUMBEST ATHLETE??? I highly doubt she has the skill, confidence, or strategy to get that one.... but we'll see, shes definitely not gonna get it handed to her.. thats for sure....

I'd have to agree both of his daughters are stupid..............for keeping his worthless bum self on the payroll! I believe he meant it as constructive criticism or a motivational message(not just for his children) but it his words were ill chosen at best, and that sign he held up after Venus won her first title that said "It's Venus' party and no one is invited" was rude and in poor taste. Hell they should let him and Johnnie Mac play doubles together! Now that I'd paid to see ;)

I don't really see anything wrong with what he said in this case, but he is definitely a crackpot and a jackass as a general proposition.

Not surprising. I had the displeasure of watching these two girls on tv for an interview. They truly are stupid as hell. I mean very very stupid and ditzy, like a couple of 12 year old giggly girls in woman's bodies. You need look no further than britney spears to see what a lack of formal education can do to a person. Of course there are famous people that are also smart but neither of these girls mentioned is.
