Is there a brand of laptop with a seperate number pad on it or are they all just part of the basic keyboard keys?

Most laptops ahve the regular 1-0 number pad at the top like a regular keyboard, but they also have numbers on certain letters that are enabled by use of the function key. Is that what you mean or do you want and external number pad?

Wouldnt that defeat the purpose of a laptop being small and portable?

I have never seen it bundled with a notebook, but once in a while I see an external one sold separately that interfaces with the serial port.

hmm.. You thinking about the Sony Vaio NV? It has a 'multi-purpose bay' and one of the options is a number pad.

Yep, I am a definite Crackhead. After searching for about an hour i have come to that conclusion. I must have dreamed it or something. Oh well, would be kinda nice though but not really.

Nope, not if it makes you more productive. Just like having an external usb mouse is a must for anyone who seriously spends hours actively clicking on their laptop (i.e. web designers). I'm sure an accountant or anyone who needs to input tons of numbers will find a numberpad extremely useful.
