I have a Dell 1901FP LCD running DVI and a Dell 991(?) 19' Trinitron CRT running VGA in my dual headed gainward geforce4 card. Here is the trouble:
The trinitron looks like absolute sh!t. I ran the adobe gamma loader/manager and it seemed to help out to a reasonable level but it seems to have applied itself to my LCD as well, making it brigher than normal, you can see when the manager loads on bootup, the LCD gets noticeably brighter. Another problem is that for some reason this nvidia driver keeps resetting my icons back to XP default, and changing the names of them (eg "Computername -> My Computer" "networkname -> My Network Places" etc). Is there a way I can split the profile up into two or something? The gamma program only sees my monitor as one, not two. Is there 3rd party software for this type of thing? I just want to run two SEPERATE monitors acting as one desktop. I had dual CRT's before and there was never a problem.
Also, under the properties of each monitor, no matter which one I choose the color management part of XP sees the monitor as the LCD.
If I could just get the two monitors to have seperate color profiles all would be well but instead Windows gives me this:
here
*note that I am trying to edit the CRT monitor in that screenshot, but it sees the current monitor as my LCD*
edit: is it possible to run one with cleartype and the other without?
