Separating Dish Box From TV

I'm going to hang my LCD TV on the wall and would like to put the Dish TV box somewhere else in the room - like somewhere out of the way. I see these little wire emitters that go over the infrared remote sensor but I see that usually have a 1/8" plug on hte other end. Just what does that little plug go in to?
