So i'm at home here yesterday & we're having a mini heatwave & it's hot as **BEEP** in the house, so i figured i'd give my comps the afternoon off.
So i go through all 3 of them & exit out of SETI Driver to give them a bit of a cool down period before shuting them off completely.

After about 15 minutes i go to shutdown Castor, my P4 3.0Ghz HT cruncher only. I just get the mouse over the start button & it freezes up, so i move on to Aldebaran, my Win 98se XP 1800 that just won't quit, & shut it off.
Go back to Castor & there a blue screen saying there's a problem with Windows blah, blah, blah. Dasm! :(
So i give it a hard shutdown, wait a few minutes & fire it back up... still BSOD. Double Dasm!! :|
Try it a few more times & it finally allows me the option of booting into safe mode, so i try that. Nothing.

Did Castor enjoy S@H so much that it can't take being shut down during extreme heat?
Whould it rather kill itself than not to be able to crunch?

Sounds like inteligent life to me. ;)
What do you think?

Before i try anything i'm going to either call or look on Dell's website as this things still under warranty.
S@H output will be down abit till i get this back up & running. Poor thing did about 18 WUs a day :brokenheart:

That sucks; I hope you can get it fixed promptly and without the loss of too much production.

I have one doing something similar lol

its crunching fad. It shuts down if anything else is run on it. but a restart and it comes right back on.

I have to reapply artic silver 5 on it thiough as its temp was near 90c last time I started it.

I think so. I've had similar problems with PCs. Ran fine, no problems for months, had to take SETI off of it, and within 2 days it died. :Q

I thought it was just the HD going bad, but maybe it just couldn't go on without SETI. :Q
