Sent a computer to my computer via UPS, got damaged, and OS is fawked, what to do? I sent it of, everything was fine, I installed windowsME with all updates from the web. Next thing I know, she calls me saying she's getting blue screens and all she sees is a gray screen, she said she tried safe mode and she still gets no icons :( I don't know what to do. File a claim with UPS? I insured it for $500. Or ask her to send it back and see if I can fix it, I just don't know, please help, thanks.

Could be that some cards just loosened during shipping.

Have the person make sure all are seated properly.

Did your sister sign for it before checking the contents of the package? If she did, your F'ed. When you sign for a package, you are saying "It's all here in 100% condition" That just removed them from any damage liablity! I've seen it happen before. You could bitch at UPS, but the max you'll ever get is the insured value, but it's highly unlikely you'll even get that!

Then get on the phone with them ASAP. Make sure you have all the tracking numbers, etc. handy cuz they'll be asking for that stuff. Good luck man.

UPS won't let you open a package till you sign for it. When you sign for it all you are saying is you got it, if it's damaged that is something else.

You can try filing a claim. Most of the time you're screwed unless it's just one part (like a monitor) that you're sending. They can claim it wasn't packaged properly otherwise.
