Which do you prefer?

Why?

Sound Quality, warrenty, and performance?

Give me your thoughts

How are each gaming wise, movie watching wise, and portable wise?

Keep in mind im talking about Sennheiser mid priced models. Earbuds to thier $70 hd497 models

I have neither, but I want to get a Sennheiser HD-280 Pro. That sucker's closed-air right?

I believe so, i think that model touches the side of your head rather than resting over your entire ear, like my Sennheiser HD 212 Pros.

instead of getting sony or sennheiser, try these

dj1001- Closed Style Headphone for monitoring
? Audio power protection circuit up to 3000mw
? 50mm driver units and high purity cobalt magnets for powerful accurate sound
? reversible earcup and compact folding design
? multi positional, rotating earcups for single sided monitoring
? single sided cable for minimal obstruction
? professional DJ stereo/mono switch

I bought these off ebay 3 months back, they are awesome.

nope they're closed circum auoral headphones, which means they go all the way around the head. I LOVE these headphone, I use them at my job, and when I'm at school, they're absolutely imparitave for recording onsite sound to Isolate yourself from all other background noise.

Yet another vote for Sennheiser.

Poll?

on edit: I have the HD212's. They have really good bass. Some say too much, but I don't think you can have too much bass.

I've had 1 set of Senn's break on me, as well as 2 other ones where the cable stripped.
2 year warranty replaced 2 of the 3 issues.
Out of warranty cable cost me $8.

I have sony mdr700's and I think they're the best Sony's for the money... but they just arent comfortable at all 🙁

sound quality is great and the coiled cable is awesome, but I will buy Senns next time

I need to be able to wear headphones 8-12 hours at a time without ear pain from the ergonomics and thats just impossible on sony's

I used to have a pair of Sennheiser MX-500 earbuds, but I lost them. I replaced them with a pair of Sony MDR-EX51LP Fontopia's, but I don't like them as much. They have more bass than my MX-500s, but they irritate my ears, they don't come with a little coiling case, and when they fall out of my ears, I have to stop what I'm doing to get them back in. Coincidentally, I just ordered a pair of MX-400's early today. They're on sale at Amazon for $10, but there were only two left when I ordered.

I  my Sennheiser HD580s. Sound quality is amazing used with an amp. So comfortable I forget they're even on. Bought for $199 five or six years ago and it continues to serve me well to this day. I've replaced the velour pads and the cable once in that time. Some of the best 200 bucks I've ever spent.

Have a set of beyerdynamic DT831s also. Not nearly as comfortable but great for listening in noisy environments. Perfect to drown out the engine roar on long flights so you can hear your music, or even just getting some sleep. Got good use out of them on my recent trip to China.

How do the 280 pros compared to the 497?

I'm thinking of buying some today.
