Got a pair of 497's probably 5 years ago to keep at my desk at work. Two years ago one ear started to go out because the cable had stretched and was tearing, and then the other went out. Started to shop for a new headset but found replacement cables on the Senn sith. Ordered and about 6 months after started to lose an ear. Picked up another pair and have been back down to a single ear again.
i'm not careful and sweet to my headphones. I'm not an audiophile. I hang the headphones on my desk, sometimes they fall on the floor, sometimes the cord gets run over by my office chair wheels. I want decent and comfortable headphones that I can wear for hours on end. I'm thinking about ponying up another $15 bucks for yet another cord, but also thinking that it might be time to get a different headset.
